The Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Cairo opened a stand of Russian literature at the 49th Cairo International Book Fair

In Cairo, the International Exhibition Center hosted the official opening of the 49th Cairo International Book Fair, where the Egyptian public and foreign guests were presented a book exhibition of the RCSC in Cairo and an extensive cultural and scientific program of the Russian stand. On the opening day, the Russian stand was visited by the Minister of Culture of Egypt Inas Abdel Daim and the Minister of Culture of Algeria Ezziddin Mayhubi.

Printed products presented at the stand include dozens of new books from the library fund of the RCSC, 100 Russian books translated into Arabic by the publishing house Anbaa Rusia, as well as a series of publications dedicated to the centenary of the birth famous Russian novelist of A. Solzhenitsyn.

The program of the stand's activities was developed jointly by the Association of Graduates of Russian (Soviet) Universities and the Egyptian-Russian Foundation for the Support of Science and Culture. It includes lectures and seminars on the history of Russian-Egyptian relations, master classes on Russian language for visitors to the fair, a round table on the state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations with the participation of the First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Arab Republic of Egypt Hisham Murad, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo in Egypt Alexei Tevanyan , Association of graduates of Russian (Soviet) universities, experts in the history of Russian-Egyptian relations, writers, representatives of local and Russian media.

The Cairo International Book Fair is held annually in Cairo in late January - early February. Within 10-12 days it is visited by three to five million people. The organizer is a subdivision of the Ministry of Culture of the Arab Republic of Egypt - General Egyptian Book Organization.

Traditionally, Russia participates in the fair, and in 2010 presented books as the main participant (guest of honor).
